It engages in the development, planning, and construction of housing projects; developing commercial real estate projects; rental properties, including student dormitories, office buildings and commercial space.; engineering work, such as power plants, desalination and purification facilities, bridges, and office- and residential high-rises; paving of roads, construction of airstrips, construction of interchanges, digging of tunnels, excavation of underground passages, and railroad tracks; planning and execution of build-operate-transfer projects; production of precast elements for construction and infrastructure for bridges and walls, and reinforced ground; and drilling, foundation, and lining works and groundwater degradation works. The company also produces concrete and clay; develops and builds complex infrastructure projects; finances, constructs, and operates transportation, social infrastructure, defense and security projects, water-related infrastructure, and sea water desalination; offers contract based construction and operation services; develops and markets real estate projects comprising residential buildings and office spaces; undertakes road construction, earthworks, bridges, culverts, hydropower plants, water reservoirs and dams, tunnels and canals underground excavation, wastewater and water treatment plants and water supply systems, and public and private building projects. The company was formerly known as Housing and Construction Holding Company Ltd. and changed its name to Shikun & Binui Ltd. in March 2009. The company was founded in 1920 and is headquartered in Airport City, Israel.
