Stocks closed lower Monday as new China Covid-19 lockdown measures kept bulls at bay. Despite the selling, several rumors swirled around Wall Street. Below we highlighted a few:

RingCentral (NYSE:RNG) approached 8x8, Inc.(NASDAQ:EGHT) about a potential takeover, according to an Investing.com source. RingCentral is said to be working with an investment bank to evaluate a potential transaction but is unclear if 8x8 is open to a sale given its depressed stock price.

Etsy (NASDAQ:ETSY) gained modestly on rumors from Activist Insight that an activist investor could be swirling around the stock. Jana Partners and Starboard were mentioned as possible activists in the name.

HyperloopTT is said to be merging with SPAC Forest Road Acquisition Corp. II (NYSE:FRXB), according to Bloomberg News
