Stocks closed mixed Thursday with Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) dragging down the Dow, but other major indexes closed relatively flat amid weaker economic data, including slowing U.S. manufacturing activity and personal consumption expenditures, suggesting the Fed has some wiggle room on raising rates so aggressively. Amid the action, several rumors circulated Wall Street. Below we highlighted a few:
Nutanix (NASDAQ:NTNX) gained 8% after Bloomberg News reported that Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) has expressed takeover interest. HPE held talks with Nutanix in recent months. However, the talks have been on and off, the report added. In October, reports surfaced the company was exploring a sale following takeover interest.
Zoom (NASDAQ:ZM) gained 2.7% after it was mentioned as a takeover target in The Information 2023 M&A Preview.
Roblox (NYSE:RBLX) gained 5% on speculation from The Hollywood Reporter that Disney (NYSE:DIS) could buy the company or Epic Games. "Buying an existing, popular platform could supercharge Disney’s gaming ambitions and drive additional revenue - especially as it seeks expansions into virtual and augmented reality," the article stated.
