According to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ) is set to introduce an AI-powered coding assistant, developed to complete parts of code based on the first lines written by a developer.

AAPL stock rose 0.8% in after-hours.

This forthcoming feature, similar to Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT ) Copilot, reportedly could be integrated into Apple's Xcode software as soon as this year.

In addition to this coding tool, Apple also plans to add AI features to other products, including the ability to generate Apple Music playlists automatically and craft presentations in its corporate software, the report says.

Also, a revamped version of the "Spotlight" search function could have a more in-depth interaction with applications, enabling control over specific features within those apps.

Apple is also investigating the potential of AI to generate code for testing applications, a task that is typically time-consuming.

The company is currently encouraging its engineers to experiment with these AI innovations in-house through a process known as "dogfooding," where a company's employees use its own products.

This initiative aims to ensure these features function correctly prior to their introduction to external developers.
