Australian Shares Finish the Week 2.1% Higher

Investing.com - The S&P/ASX 200 added 30 points or 0.5% to 6,678 during Friday’s trade, extending gains of 0.8% in the previous session and finishing the week 2.1% higher as rebounding commodity prices boosted the Energy and Materials sectors.

Among stocks, Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX: WDS ) gained 1.75, Santos Ltd (ASX: STO ) lifted 2.3%, Beach Energy Ltd (ASX: BPT ) added 4.2% and Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX: VEA ) lifted 2.6%, while Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX: RIO ) gained 0.3%, BHP Billiton Ltd (ASX: BHP ) lifted 0.7%, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX: FMG ) added 0.6% and Champion Iron Ltd (ASX: CIA ) gained 4.8%.

Information Technology added 0.8% overall with Block Inc (ASX: SQ2 ) up 1.7%, Megaport Ltd (ASX: MP1 ) adding 3.3%, Novonix Ltd (ASX: NVX ) up 4.7% and Xero Ltd (ASX: XRO ) gaining 1.6%.

On the bond markets, Australia 10-Year yields were at 3.481% while United States 10-Year rates were at 2.985%.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 added 0.5% to 11,169.
