Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.32%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT , Clean Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.32% to hit a new all time high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were BlackBerry Ltd (TSX: BB ), which rose 12.58% or 0.96 points to trade at 8.59 at the close. Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TSX: TRQ ) added 10.34% or 0.090 points to end at 0.960 and Colliers International Group Inc Bats (TSX: CIGI ) was up 5.27% or 5.07 points to 101.29 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Alacer Gold Corp (TSX: ASR ), which lost 7.85% or 0.530 points to trade at 6.220 in late trade. HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX: HBM ) declined 4.36% or 0.23 points to end at 5.05 and First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX: FM ) shed 4.26% or 0.57 points to 12.81.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 571 to 505 and 120 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 12.68.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.18% or 2.65 to $1481.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.39% or 0.85 to hit $60.33 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.52 to trade at $66.02 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.18% to 0.7603, while CAD/EUR rose 0.23% to 0.6863.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 97.287.
