Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.43%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare , IT and REITs sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.43% to hit a new all time high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ), which rose 16.43% or 2.05 points to trade at 14.53 at the close. BlackBerry Ltd (TSX: BB ) added 13.63% or 1.71 points to end at 14.26 and Cronos Group Inc (TSX: CRON ) was up 7.96% or 0.53 points to 7.19 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SunOpta Inc . (TSX: SOY ), which lost 3.36% or 0.34 points to trade at 9.78 in late trade. West Fraser Timber Co Ltd (TSX: WFG ) declined 3.35% or 3.75 points to end at 108.06 and Interfor Corp (TSX: IFP ) shed 3.17% or 1.05 points to 32.05.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 525 to 512 and 112 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 3.55 to $1769.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.72% or 0.59 to hit $82.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.63 to trade at $84.96 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.12% to 0.8088, while CAD/EUR fell 0.06% to 0.6952.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 93.773.
