Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.47%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Energy , Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.47%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (TSX: ATA ), which rose 13.41% or 2.45 points to trade at 20.72 at the close. HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX: HBM ) added 10.94% or 0.50 points to end at 5.07 and Corus Entertainment Inc (TSX: CJRb ) was up 10.20% or 0.26 points to 2.81 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Equitable Group Inc. (TSX: EQB ), which lost 2.79% or 2.36 points to trade at 82.23 in late trade. Boralex Inc (TSX: BLX ) declined 2.69% or 0.91 points to end at 32.93 and Osisko Gold Ro (TSX: OR ) shed 2.46% or 0.36 points to 14.30.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 689 to 409 and 104 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.89% or 17.30 to $1929.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.33% or 0.97 to hit $42.58 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.89% or 0.84 to trade at $45.34 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.39% to 0.7547, while CAD/EUR fell 0.01% to 0.6401.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 93.395.
