Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.65%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT , Real Estate and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.65%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Seven Generations Energy Ltd (TSX: VII ), which rose 14.85% or 0.45 points to trade at 3.48 at the close. Brookfield Property Partners LP (TSX: BPY_u ) added 14.50% or 1.95 points to end at 15.40 and Lightspeed POS Inc (TSX: LSPD ) was up 13.94% or 4.52 points to 36.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included OceanaGold Corporation (TSX: OGC ), which lost 6.01% or 0.190 points to trade at 2.970 in late trade. CAE Inc. (TSX: CAE ) declined 5.09% or 1.12 points to end at 20.90 and First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX: FR ) shed 4.44% or 0.60 points to 12.90.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 672 to 365 and 89 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.42% or 7.50 to $1787.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.36% or 0.54 to hit $40.36 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 0.77 to trade at $42.80 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.16% to 0.7371, while CAD/EUR rose 0.27% to 0.6558.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.205.
