Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.67%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT , Clean Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.67% to hit a new 6-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lightspeed POS Inc (TSX: LSPD ), which rose 7.87% or 4.39 points to trade at 60.19 at the close. BlackBerry Ltd (TSX: BB ) added 6.99% or 0.49 points to end at 7.50 and Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Inc (TSX: AUP ) was up 6.96% or 1.22 points to 18.75 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Real Matters Inc (TSX: REAL ), which lost 13.85% or 3.65 points to trade at 22.70 in late trade. Corus Entertainment Inc (TSX: CJRb ) declined 2.93% or 0.12 points to end at 4.13 and Brookfield Property Partners LP (TSX: BPY_u ) shed 2.78% or 0.59 points to 20.60.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 642 to 352 and 116 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.61% or 11.35 to $1872.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.07% or 0.45 to hit $42.35 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 0.66 to trade at $44.86 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.05% to 0.7644, while CAD/EUR rose 0.12% to 0.6447.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.385.
