Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 1.27%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Energy , Healthcare and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 1.27%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were SNC-Lavalin Group Inc . (TSX: SNC ), which rose 16.11% or 4.47 points to trade at 32.21 at the close. AcuityAds Holdings Inc (TSX: AT ) added 9.08% or 0.930 points to end at 11.170 and Village Farms International Inc (TSX: VFF ) was up 9.17% or 0.88 points to 10.48 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX: ACB ), which lost 8.62% or 0.770 points to trade at 8.160 in late trade. Centerra Gold Inc (TSX: CG ) declined 4.57% or 0.41 points to end at 8.57 and Canadian National Railway Company (TSX: CNR ) shed 3.70% or 5.00 points to 130.08.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 717 to 331 and 100 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.03% or 18.80 to $1842.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.44% or 1.56 to hit $65.38 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.48% or 1.66 to trade at $68.71 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.46% to 0.8259, while CAD/EUR fell 0.04% to 0.6802.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 90.315.
