Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the REITs , Energy and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.01%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Denison Mines Corp (TSX: DML ), which rose 7.43% or 0.13 points to trade at 1.88 at the close. Cameco Corp (TSX: CCO ) added 6.32% or 1.71 points to end at 28.75 and Methanex Corporation (TSX: MX ) was up 5.14% or 2.44 points to 49.92 in late trade.

Biggest losers included New Gold Inc (TSX: NGD ), which lost 6.06% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.550 in late trade. OceanaGold Corporation (TSX: OGC ) declined 3.99% or 0.095 points to end at 2.285 and Spin Master Corp (TSX: TOY ) shed 3.65% or 1.75 points to 46.34.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 605 to 385 and 132 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.93% or 35.45 to $1798.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.34% or 0.93 to hit $68.36 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.63 to trade at $71.59 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.85% to 0.7908, while CAD/EUR fell 0.61% to 0.6677.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 92.523.
