Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.05%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare , REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.05%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were CAE Inc. (TSX: CAE ), which rose 5.57% or 2.04 points to trade at 38.64 at the close. Mullen Group Ltd . (TSX: MTL ) added 5.12% or 0.65 points to end at 13.35 and Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TSX: TRQ ) was up 2.99% or 0.53 points to 18.23 in late trade.

Biggest losers included IAMGold Corporation (TSX: IMG ), which lost 10.31% or 0.36 points to trade at 3.17 in late trade. Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX: TRIL ) declined 5.07% or 0.50 points to end at 9.36 and SunOpta Inc . (TSX: SOY ) shed 4.75% or 0.66 points to 13.23.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 525 to 453 and 112 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 3.45 to $1806.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.09% or 1.47 to hit $71.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.01% or 1.45 to trade at $73.68 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.03% to 0.7962, while CAD/EUR rose 0.16% to 0.6763.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.817.
