Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.05%

Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Discretionary , IT and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were IAMGold Corporation (TSX: IMG ), which rose 11.04% or 0.37 points to trade at 3.72 at the close. SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX: SIL ) added 10.46% or 1.01 points to end at 10.67 and OceanaGold Corporation (TSX: OGC ) was up 9.33% or 0.180 points to 2.110 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Trisura Group Ltd (TSX: TSU ), which lost 12.22% or 5.69 points to trade at 40.88 in late trade. Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX: LSPD ) declined 6.84% or 2.81 points to end at 38.25 and Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX: DND ) shed 6.96% or 2.08 points to 27.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 619 to 411 and 112 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 16.95% to 26.50.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.61% or 29.50 to $1866.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 4.05% or 3.64 to hit $93.52 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 3.72% or 3.40 to trade at $94.81 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.20% to 0.7847, while CAD/EUR rose 0.58% to 0.6919.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 96.075.
