Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.10%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Energy , Industrials and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.10%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lithium Americas Corp (TSX: LAC ), which rose 10.20% or 1.82 points to trade at 19.67 at the close. Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX: LUN ) added 2.69% or 0.310 points to end at 11.850 and Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX: CF ) was up 2.42% or 0.31 points to 13.13 in late trade.

Biggest losers included OceanaGold Corporation (TSX: OGC ), which lost 5.08% or 0.120 points to trade at 2.240 in late trade. Denison Mines Corp (TSX: DML ) declined 5.36% or 0.07 points to end at 1.32 and BlackBerry Ltd (TSX: BB ) shed 4.56% or 0.67 points to 14.02.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 590 to 421 and 127 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.24% or 4.35 to $1806.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.59% or 0.44 to hit $74.12 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.30 to trade at $75.25 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.11% to 0.8027, while CAD/EUR fell 0.01% to 0.6768.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 92.263.
