Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.24%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare , Clean Technology and IT sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.24%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Whitecap Resources Inc . (TSX: WCP ), which rose 10.02% or 0.59 points to trade at 6.48 at the close. Enerplus Corporation (TSX: ERF ) added 5.88% or 0.51 points to end at 9.18 and Interfor Corp (TSX: IFP ) was up 4.55% or 1.42 points to 32.66 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Denison Mines Corp (TSX: DML ), which lost 7.65% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.69 in late trade. NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX: NXE ) declined 6.37% or 0.390 points to end at 5.730 and Cameco Corp (TSX: CCO ) shed 5.68% or 1.53 points to 25.43.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 535 to 421 and 135 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 2.65 to $1747.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.65 to hit $73.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.74 to trade at $77.99 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.01% to 0.7900, while CAD/EUR rose 0.22% to 0.6744.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 93.323.
