Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.37%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare , Financials and Consumer Discretionary sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Tourmaline Oil Corp . (TSX: TOU ), which rose 4.48% or 1.41 points to trade at 32.98 at the close. ARC Resources Ltd . (TSX: ARX ) added 4.22% or 0.34 points to end at 8.40 and ECN Capital Corp (TSX: ECN ) was up 2.24% or 0.22 points to 10.27 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Lithium Americas Corp (TSX: LAC ), which lost 5.51% or 1.31 points to trade at 22.47 in late trade. Real Matters Inc (TSX: REAL ) declined 2.73% or 0.33 points to end at 11.74 and Canopy Growth Corp (TSX: WEED ) shed 2.61% or 0.580 points to 21.610.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 522 to 473 and 129 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 2.50 to $1793.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.30% or 0.89 to hit $67.47 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.45% or 1.03 to trade at $70.25 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.72% to 0.7883, while CAD/EUR fell 0.53% to 0.6708.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.073.
