Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Healthcare and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.62% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:IVN), which rose 7.78% or 0.63 points to trade at 8.73 at the close. Enerplus Corporation (TSX:ERF) added 4.44% or 0.45 points to end at 10.58 and Crescent Point Energy Corp . (TSX:CPG) was up 3.68% or 0.22 points to 6.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:LSPD), which lost 9.01% or 11.20 points to trade at 113.07 in late trade. Docebo Inc (TSX:DCBO) declined 7.53% or 7.06 points to end at 86.72 and Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS) shed 7.05% or 0.720 points to 9.490.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 636 to 392 and 89 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 7.35 to $1765.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.21% or 1.68 to hit $77.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.45% or 1.94 to trade at $81.22 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.53% to 0.7947, while CAD/EUR rose 0.34% to 0.6838.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 93.823.
