Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.80%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Energy , Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.80%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Dundee Precious Metals Inc (TSX: DPM ), which rose 11.73% or 1.06 points to trade at 10.10 at the close. Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd (TSX: KL ) added 7.15% or 4.885 points to end at 73.175 and Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX: K ) was up 7.09% or 0.83 points to 12.54 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SNC-Lavalin Group Inc . (TSX: SNC ), which lost 8.99% or 2.10 points to trade at 21.25 in late trade. Air Canada (TSX: AC ) declined 6.09% or 0.98 points to end at 15.11 and Equitable Group Inc. (TSX: EQB ) shed 4.88% or 3.98 points to 77.53.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for October delivery was up 0.26% or 5.10 to $1979.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.42% or 0.57 to hit $40.84 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.40 to trade at $43.92 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.13% to 0.7470, while CAD/EUR rose 0.30% to 0.6349.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 93.485.
