Fashion retailer Truworths' H1 profit falls on COVID-19 hit

JOHANNESBURG, Feb 18 (Reuters) - South Africa's Truworths International Ltd TRUJ.J reported a 7% decline in half-year profit on Thursday as shuttered stores during the second COVID-19 wave and lower spending on formal wear weighed on sales.

The retailer, which also owns UK-based shoe chain Office, said headline earnings per share, the main profit measure in South Africa, fell to 339.3 cents in the 26 weeks ended Dec. 27 from 364.9 cents in the prior comparable period.
