India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.31%

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals , Green Energy and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.31%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS: TISC ), which rose 3.09% or 36.60 points to trade at 1219.60 at the close. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS: DIVI ) added 1.81% or 76.05 points to end at 4277.55 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS: BJFN ) was up 1.79% or 124.40 points to 7055.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS: ONGC ), which lost 2.82% or 4.85 points to trade at 167.25 in late trade. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS: PGRD ) declined 1.68% or 3.60 points to end at 210.05 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS: IOC ) shed 1.26% or 1.55 points to 121.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO: TISC ) which rose 3.10% to 1219.55, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO: BJFN ) which was up 1.74% to settle at 7051.05 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO: BJFS ) which gained 1.69% to close at 15975.20.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: PGRD ) which was down 1.66% to 210.10 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO: TCS ) which lost 0.96% to settle at 3742.40 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO: ULTC ) which was down 0.65% to 7426.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1368 to 446 and 20 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2173 fell and 1053 advanced, while 78 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.68% to 19.6850.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.10% or 1.75 to $1820.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.89% or 1.73 to hit $89.59 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 1.95 to trade at $90.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 74.727, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 85.3075.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 95.560.
