India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 1.51%

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate , Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.51% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.53%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS: BJFS ), which rose 9.17% or 497.45 points to trade at 5925.00 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS: BJFN ) added 6.55% or 165.40 points to end at 2691.35 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS: RELI ) was up 6.48% or 107.30 points to 1763.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS: INBK ), which lost 2.20% or 11.00 points to trade at 488.20 in late trade. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS: MAHM ) declined 1.31% or 6.65 points to end at 499.95 and Vedanta Ltd (NS: VDAN ) shed 1.26% or 1.35 points to 105.65.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO: BJFN ) which rose 6.74% to 2697.80, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO: RELI ) which was up 6.23% to settle at 1759.50 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: PGRD ) which gained 4.23% to close at 172.40.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which was down 2.94% to 484.25 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO: ITC ) which lost 1.37% to settle at 184.10 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO: MAHM ) which was down 1.35% to 499.90 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1143 to 475 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1701 rose and 796 declined, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.74% to 29.9650.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.43% or 7.45 to $1738.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.75% or 1.07 to hit $39.91 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.24% or 0.93 to trade at $42.44 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.31% to 76.154, while EUR/INR fell 0.31% to 85.3080.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.485.
