India shares lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.20%

Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Durables , IT and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS: INBK ), which rose 4.04% or 39.55 points to trade at 1,018.10 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS: COAL ) added 2.63% or 4.80 points to end at 187.65 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS: PGRD ) was up 2.11% or 4.80 points to 232.55 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS: APLH ), which lost 3.36% or 149.60 points to trade at 4,304.75 in late trade. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS: EICH ) declined 2.96% or 77.85 points to end at 2,552.50 and Titan Company Ltd (NS: TITN ) shed 2.91% or 71.65 points to 2,386.55.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which rose 4.17% to 1,019.00, NTPC Ltd (BO: NTPC ) which was up 2.54% to settle at 157.50 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: PGRD ) which gained 2.20% to close at 232.60.

The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO: TITN ) which was down 2.95% to 2,386.60 in late trade, Wipro Ltd (BO: WIPR ) which lost 2.74% to settle at 495.05 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO: TEML ) which was down 2.01% to 1,231.30 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1260 to 585 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2152 fell and 1205 advanced, while 179 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.47% to 20.28.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.71% or 32.63 to $1,879.07 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.89% or 3.03 to hit $101.66 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.45% or 2.63 to trade at $104.51 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.03% to 76.50, while EUR/INR fell 0.19% to 80.50.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 103.39.
