India shares lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.32%
Credit: © Reuters. – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking , Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.32%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.38%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS: VDAN ), which rose 7.70% or 7.45 points to trade at 104.15 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS: BRTI ) added 5.73% or 31.60 points to end at 583.25 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS: ZEE ) was up 5.52% or 10.80 points to 206.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Asian Paints Ltd. (NS: ASPN ), which lost 4.64% or 79.65 points to trade at 1636.90 in late trade. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS: BJFN ) declined 4.04% or 97.45 points to end at 2314.45 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS: HDFC ) shed 4.03% or 74.00 points to 1761.65.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO: BRTI ) which rose 5.62% to 582.70, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO: TEML ) which was up 5.32% to settle at 582.30 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO: SUN ) which gained 4.40% to close at 497.00.

The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO: ASPN ) which was down 4.54% to 1638.30 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO: HDFC ) which lost 4.10% to settle at 1761.05 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO: BJFN ) which was down 4.10% to 2314.20 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 823 to 716 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1241 rose and 1090 declined, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.17% to 29.6900 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.51% or 8.65 to $1713.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.80% or 0.67 to hit $36.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.34 to trade at $39.45 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.33% to 75.561, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 84.6085.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 97.552.
