Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.04%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.04%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T: 6976 ), which rose 2.52% or 80.0 points to trade at 3260.0 at the close. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T: 1332 ) added 1.86% or 12.0 points to end at 657.0 and Yokogawa Electric Corp. (T: 6841 ) was up 1.64% or 32.0 points to 1980.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T: 7003 ), which lost 1.74% or 16.0 points to trade at 906.0 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T: 8795 ) declined 1.68% or 24.0 points to end at 1408.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) shed 1.55% or 32.0 points to 2034.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1720 to 1710 and 282 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 13.85.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.12% or 0.07 to $60.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.24% or 0.16 to hit $66.55 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.75 to trade at $1493.45 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 109.38, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 121.19.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.330.
