Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.36%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.36% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T: 9412 ), which rose 4.87% or 21.0 points to trade at 452.0 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T: 6976 ) added 4.29% or 135.0 points to end at 3285.0 and NEC Corp. (T: 6701 ) was up 3.79% or 180.0 points to 4925.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T: 5202 ), which lost 3.33% or 15.0 points to trade at 436.0 in late trade. Dentsu Inc. (T: 4324 ) declined 3.04% or 95.0 points to end at 3035.0 and Toray Industries, Inc. (T: 3402 ) shed 3.03% or 16.5 points to 528.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1934 to 1533 and 217 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 27.38.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 2.15% or 0.80 to $36.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.68% or 0.67 to hit $39.12 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 2.50 to trade at $1702.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 109.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 122.20.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 97.558.
