Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.40%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment , Paper & Pulp and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Maruha Nichiro Corp (TYO: 1333 ), which rose 9.78% or 227.00 points to trade at 2,547.00 at the close. Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO: 7211 ) added 4.10% or 18.00 points to end at 457.00 and Toray Industries, Inc. (TYO: 3402 ) was up 4.03% or 28.40 points to 732.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO: 9107 ), which lost 4.67% or 430.00 points to trade at 8,770.00 in late trade. Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (TYO: 4021 ) declined 4.17% or 280.00 points to end at 6,430.00 and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO: 9104 ) shed 2.18% or 70.00 points to 3,135.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2070 to 1408 and 276 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.04% to 26.31.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.38% or 0.44 to $115.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.36% or 0.43 to hit $118.94 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.55% or 10.00 to trade at $1,829.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.44% to 134.43, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 139.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 105.17.
