Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Gas & Water , Paper & Pulp and Shipbuilding sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.1984%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T: 9501 ), which rose 7.1800% or 26.00000000 points to trade at 388.00000000 at the close. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (T: 9104 ) added 6.2100% or 580.00000000 points to end at 9920.00000000 and Chiyoda Corp. (T: 6366 ) was up 6.1500% or 22.00000000 points to 380.00000000 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T: 5541 ), which lost 3.5500% or 120.00000000 points to trade at 3260.00000000 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T: 8795 ) declined 3.0900% or 52.00000000 points to end at 1632.00000000 and Chiba Bank Ltd (T: 8331 ) shed 2.8800% or 21.00000000 points to 708.00000000.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2365 to 1245 and 177 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.7950% to 26.53000069.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 2.4000% or 2.29999995 to $98.01999664 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.8100% or 2.75000000 to hit $100.72000122 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.7900% or 15.10000038 to trade at $1915.80004883 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.0391% to 114.94499969, while EUR/JPY fell 0.0116% to 128.99499512.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.0000% at 96.69200134.
