Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 1.56%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.56%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were IHI Corp. (T: 7013 ), which rose 5.13% or 111.0 points to trade at 2273.0 at the close. Aeon Co., Ltd. (T: 8267 ) added 4.79% or 156.0 points to end at 3412.0 and Advantest Corp. (T: 6857 ) was up 4.65% or 410.0 points to 9230.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T: 7762 ), which lost 1.76% or 7.0 points to trade at 391.0 in late trade. Showa Denko K.K. (T: 4004 ) declined 1.71% or 55.0 points to end at 3160.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T: 5301 ) shed 1.52% or 27.0 points to 1745.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2903 to 692 and 170 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.65.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.07% or 1.21 to $59.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.74% or 1.08 to hit $63.03 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 1.05 to trade at $1726.15 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 109.25, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 128.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 92.793.
