Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.05%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.05%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Hino Motors, Ltd. (T: 7205 ), which rose 6.66% or 50.0 points to trade at 801.0 at the close. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T: 4689 ) added 3.91% or 28.0 points to end at 745.0 and Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (T: 9432 ) was up 3.31% or 73.5 points to 2295.5 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T: 4568 ), which lost 3.30% or 102.0 points to trade at 2985.0 in late trade. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T: 4523 ) declined 3.20% or 312.0 points to end at 9450.0 and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T: 4506 ) shed 2.81% or 39.0 points to 1348.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1812 to 1657 and 210 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.54.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.23% or 0.50 to $40.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.89% or 0.38 to hit $42.27 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 11.90 to trade at $1896.90 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.24% to 105.87, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 124.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.752.
