JOHANNESBURG, January 7 (ANA)
About 20 people dressed in blue Democratic Alliance (DA) T-shirts on Monday turned up in Alexandra to hear the party spokesperson Phumzile van Damme campaign ahead of the 2019 elections.
Van Damme who said her name was "Corruption spokesperson" implored residents to vote for the DA to effect change.
"I would like to encourage for all South Africans to make sure they are all registered to vote for the 2019 elections and vote for DA," said Van Damme.
Residents of the women's hostel told Van Damme about the problems they were facing in the hostel which was ruled by the African National Congress.
These included the rape of children and women; as well as women and children being brutally killed; and the residents have lived days without water and their water tanks have also not been cleaned.
"We will fight corruption within the provincial government to ensure that all public money is spent on the people," said Van Damme.
