Australia shares higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 1.11%
Credit: © Reuters. – Australia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare , Utilities and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 1.11%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Syrah Resources Ltd (AX: SYR ), which rose 8.60% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.515 at the close. Mayne Pharma Group Ltd (AX: MYX ) added 5.71% or 0.060 points to end at 1.110 and Lynas Corporation Ltd (AX: LYC ) was up 5.35% or 0.095 points to 1.870 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Emeco Holdings Ltd (AX: EHL ), which lost 8.77% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.260 in late trade. Seven West Media Ltd (AX: SWM ) declined 4.94% or 0.040 points to end at 0.770 and Invocare Ltd (AX: IVC ) shed 3.32% or 0.410 points to 11.940.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 591 to 514 and 332 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.95% to 19.128.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1235.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.41% or 0.28 to hit $67.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.41 to trade at $77.25 a barrel.

AUD/USD was up 0.08% to 0.7098, while AUD/JPY rose 0.15% to 79.45.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.23.
