Belgium shares lower at close of trade; BEL 20 down 2.13%
Credit: © Reuters. – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 2.13% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR: PROX ), which rose 3.66% or 0.78 points to trade at 22.07 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ) added 1.09% or 0.118 points to end at 10.964 and Telenet Group (BR: TNET ) was up 1.06% or 0.46 points to 43.98 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR: SOLB ), which lost 5.82% or 6.70 points to trade at 108.45 in late trade. Umicore SA (BR: UMI ) declined 5.77% or 2.50 points to end at 40.82 and Argen-X (BR: ARGX ) shed 5.58% or 3.40 points to 57.50.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 28 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1192.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.03% or 1.52 to hit $73.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.71% or 1.45 to trade at $83.55 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1540, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8738.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 95.08.
