Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.09%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities , Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.09%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ), which rose 12.28% or 2.21 points to trade at 20.21 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ) added 8.34% or 1.13 points to end at 14.68 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) was up 7.14% or 0.87 points to 13.06 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Viavarejo Unt (SA: VVAR11 ), which lost 3.92% or 0.73 points to trade at 17.88 in late trade. CCR SA (SA: CCRO3 ) declined 3.66% or 0.37 points to end at 9.75 and WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) shed 3.63% or 0.59 points to 15.66.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 204 to 204 and 39 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.67% to 35.01.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.93% or 11.70 to $1242.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $73.97 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.83% or 3.25 to trade at $111.72 .

USD/BRL was up 0.80% to 3.9082, while EUR/BRL rose 0.40% to 4.5495.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 94.62.
