Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.10% – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption , Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.10% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ), which rose 4.25% or 0.85 points to trade at 20.83 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ) added 3.31% or 0.55 points to end at 17.18 and Klabin Unt (SA: KLBN11 ) was up 2.64% or 0.43 points to 16.74 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA: SBSP3 ), which lost 6.58% or 2.12 points to trade at 30.12 in late trade. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) declined 4.62% or 1.34 points to end at 27.65 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) shed 3.41% or 1.22 points to 34.53.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 218 to 192 and 42 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.09% to 25.09.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.97% or 12.49 to $1277.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.44% or 0.21 to hit $47.80 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 3.63% or 4.98 to trade at $132.25 .

USD/BRL was down 0.53% to 3.1718, while EUR/BRL fell 0.90% to 3.7223.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 93.74.
