Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.35%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.35% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which rose 5.14% or 1.87 points to trade at 38.23 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ) added 4.72% or 0.77 points to end at 17.10 and WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) was up 3.93% or 0.77 points to 20.38 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ), which lost 3.56% or 1.23 points to trade at 33.30 in late trade. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA: MRVE3 ) declined 2.23% or 0.30 points to end at 13.15 and Multiplan SA (SA: MULT3 ) shed 1.99% or 1.45 points to 71.55.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 213 to 168 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.90% to 23.86.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.63% or 8.08 to $1287.78 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.56% or 0.74 to hit $46.81 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.98% or 1.30 to trade at $130.95 .

USD/BRL was down 0.56% to 3.1510, while EUR/BRL fell 0.28% to 3.7082.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 93.41.
