Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.25%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials , Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ), which rose 7.12% or 0.75 points to trade at 11.29 at the close. Cvc Brasil ON (SA: CVCB3 ) added 5.55% or 2.93 points to end at 55.74 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA: UGPA3 ) was up 5.44% or 2.13 points to 41.31 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ambev SA (SA: ABEV3 ), which lost 5.60% or 0.89 points to trade at 15.00 in late trade. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA: CSAN3 ) declined 2.57% or 0.87 points to end at 32.99 and Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ) shed 2.44% or 0.30 points to 12.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 270 to 136 and 37 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.79% to 44.65.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 6.20 to $1234.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.22% or 0.15 to hit $66.97 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.79% or 0.95 to trade at $121.20 .

USD/BRL was down 0.73% to 3.7056, while EUR/BRL fell 0.88% to 4.2133.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 96.39.
