Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.37%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials , Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA: PCAR4 ), which rose 7.70% or 5.85 points to trade at 81.85 at the close. Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA: GOLL4 ) added 6.69% or 0.93 points to end at 14.83 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA: SANB11 ) was up 5.26% or 1.79 points to 35.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ), which lost 2.07% or 0.35 points to trade at 16.57 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ) declined 1.90% or 0.15 points to end at 7.75 and CCR SA (SA: CCRO3 ) shed 1.43% or 0.16 points to 11.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 226 to 204 and 35 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.57% to 32.00.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.50% or 6.10 to $1231.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.18% or 0.81 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.08% or 0.09 to trade at $110.92 .
USD/BRL was down 1.29% to 3.7011, while EUR/BRL fell 0.90% to 4.3403.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 94.03.
