Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.42% – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials , Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.42% to hit a new 1-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ), which rose 7.40% or 1.82 points to trade at 26.43 at the close. Banco Bradesco SA (SA: BBDC3 ) added 4.80% or 1.26 points to end at 27.50 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) was up 5.63% or 0.92 points to 17.27 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which lost 5.21% or 2.19 points to trade at 39.81 in late trade. Tim Participacoes SA (SA: TIMP3 ) declined 3.31% or 0.45 points to end at 13.15 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) shed 2.26% or 1.66 points to 71.64.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 275 to 164 and 24 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.24% to 32.23.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.56% or 6.90 to $1230.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $68.12 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.20% or 2.39 to trade at $110.97 .

USD/BRL was down 1.43% to 3.7766, while EUR/BRL fell 0.72% to 4.4264.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.80% at 94.22.
