Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.75%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate , Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.75% to hit a new 5-year high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ), which rose 5.92% or 1.57 points to trade at 28.09 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA: PETR3 ) added 4.38% or 0.65 points to end at 15.50 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA: PETR4 ) was up 4.23% or 0.61 points to 15.02 in late trade.

Biggest losers included RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA: RAIL3 ), which lost 3.85% or 0.39 points to trade at 9.75 in late trade. TAESA UNT N2 (SA: TAEE11 ) declined 1.26% or 0.29 points to end at 22.78 and WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) shed 1.02% or 0.22 points to 21.43.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 258 to 131 and 37 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.31% to 27.07.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.38% or 5.06 to $1339.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.97% or 0.47 to hit $49.13 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.05% or 0.07 to trade at $128.17 .

USD/BRL was down 0.49% to 3.1018, while EUR/BRL fell 0.45% to 3.6970.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 92.20.
