Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.85% – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate , Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.85%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA: GOLL4 ), which rose 7.17% or 1.09 points to trade at 16.29 at the close. Raia Drogasil SA (SA: RADL3 ) added 6.65% or 4.20 points to end at 67.40 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA: PETR3 ) was up 5.95% or 1.62 points to 28.84 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA: SBSP3 ), which lost 6.08% or 1.99 points to trade at 30.73 in late trade. Banco do Brasil SA (SA: BBAS3 ) declined 3.56% or 1.33 points to end at 36.02 and Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ) shed 3.29% or 0.76 points to 22.32.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 219 to 200 and 27 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.71% to 26.61.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.63% or 8.30 to $1321.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.34% or 0.24 to hit $71.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.72% or 0.86 to trade at $119.58 .

USD/BRL was down 1.15% to 3.5504, while EUR/BRL fell 0.56% to 4.2320.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 92.56.
