Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 3.72%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials , Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 3.72% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ), which rose 9.69% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.65 at the close. Viavarejo Unt (SA: VVAR11 ) added 8.85% or 2.14 points to end at 26.33 and Magazine Luiza SA (SA: MGLU3 ) was up 8.13% or 6.09 points to 80.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which lost 3.43% or 1.89 points to trade at 53.23 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ) declined 0.95% or 0.20 points to end at 20.89 and Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ) shed 0.92% or 0.25 points to 27.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 298 to 164 and 25 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 21.02% to 27.02.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.61% or 21.50 to $1358.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.19% or 1.41 to hit $65.88 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.16% or 1.40 to trade at $122.28 .
USD/BRL was down 2.79% to 3.1467, while EUR/BRL fell 1.97% to 3.9015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.91% at 89.06.
