Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 3.79%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 3.79% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Banco do Brasil SA (SA: BBAS3 ), which rose 11.41% or 3.22 points to trade at 31.43 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) added 11.45% or 1.70 points to end at 16.55 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) was up 10.91% or 1.27 points to 12.91 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which lost 3.75% or 1.80 points to trade at 46.20 in late trade. Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) declined 1.68% or 1.27 points to end at 74.50 and Ambev SA (SA: ABEV3 ) shed 1.14% or 0.21 points to 18.22.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 273 to 167 and 35 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.34% to 49.49.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.30% or 15.50 to $1207.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $75.12 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 5.63% or 5.75 to trade at $107.90 .

USD/BRL was down 2.18% to 3.9318, while EUR/BRL fell 2.44% to 4.5410.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 95.10.
