Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.32%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electric Power , Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.32%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ), which rose 3.06% or 0.58 points to trade at 19.54 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) added 2.68% or 0.52 points to end at 19.90 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) was up 2.62% or 0.72 points to 28.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ), which lost 3.90% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.40 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET6 ) declined 2.14% or 0.38 points to end at 17.34 and BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ) shed 1.67% or 0.77 points to 45.25.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 200 to 194 and 46 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.88% to 38.62.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.41% or 5.18 to $1262.92 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.29 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.61% or 0.80 to trade at $132.02 .

USD/BRL was up 0.13% to 3.2617, while EUR/BRL rose 0.42% to 3.6511.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 97.16.
