Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.34%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate , Basic Materials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ), which rose 14.78% or 2.54 points to trade at 19.72 at the close. Multiplan SA (SA: MULT3 ) added 4.59% or 3.22 points to end at 73.32 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA: NATU3 ) was up 3.09% or 0.74 points to 24.71 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA: SBSP3 ), which lost 3.15% or 1.11 points to trade at 34.09 in late trade. JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) declined 2.91% or 0.23 points to end at 7.67 and EcoRodovias SA (SA: ECOR3 ) shed 2.46% or 0.27 points to 10.70.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 172 to 169 and 44 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.43% to 25.22.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.78% or 9.87 to $1269.87 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.49% or 0.73 to hit $49.77 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.79% or 2.43 to trade at $137.98 .

USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.1348, while EUR/BRL rose 0.16% to 3.6848.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 93.16.
