Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.06%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.06% to hit a new 52-week high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA: BRKM5 ), which rose 3.73% or 0.98 points to trade at 27.22 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ) added 3.44% or 0.34 points to end at 10.22 and Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) was up 3.27% or 0.34 points to 10.74 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ), which lost 3.53% or 1.17 points to trade at 32.00 in late trade. WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) declined 2.35% or 0.42 points to end at 17.42 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA: RENT3 ) shed 1.92% or 0.80 points to 40.80.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 201 to 141 and 36 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.66% to 34.08.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.39% or 4.85 to $1252.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.33 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.55% or 2.37 to trade at $155.12 .

USD/BRL was up 0.77% to 3.2033, while EUR/BRL rose 0.05% to 3.5158.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 98.05.
