Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.22%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials , Public Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.22%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA: NATU3 ), which rose 4.19% or 1.32 points to trade at 32.82 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ) added 4.16% or 0.36 points to end at 9.02 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) was up 3.46% or 1.50 points to 44.89 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ), which lost 2.49% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.21 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA: PETR4 ) declined 2.00% or 0.32 points to end at 15.66 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA: PETR3 ) shed 1.98% or 0.33 points to 16.31.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 211 to 209 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.04% to 28.06.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.44 to $1277.46 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.01% or 0.51 to hit $49.91 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.16% or 0.20 to trade at $125.47 .

USD/BRL was down 0.35% to 3.1319, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 3.6845.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.28.
