Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.25% – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate , Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which rose 2.88% or 0.59 points to trade at 21.06 at the close. Fleury SA (SA: FLRY3 ) added 2.41% or 0.69 points to end at 29.30 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) was up 2.02% or 1.12 points to 56.47 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ), which lost 3.95% or 1.29 points to trade at 31.38 in late trade. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA: CSAN3 ) declined 2.78% or 1.27 points to end at 44.38 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA: PCAR4 ) shed 2.62% or 2.06 points to 76.45.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 286 to 170 and 29 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.78% to 29.29.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.33% or 4.40 to $1335.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.80% or 1.18 to hit $64.38 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.04% or 2.55 to trade at $122.17 .

USD/BRL was up 0.89% to 3.1836, while EUR/BRL rose 1.06% to 3.9472.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 89.06.
