Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.40%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate , Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.40%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which rose 4.45% or 0.43 points to trade at 10.09 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) added 3.15% or 0.75 points to end at 24.59 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA: CPLE6 ) was up 2.88% or 0.78 points to 27.88 in late trade.

Biggest losers included MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA: MRVE3 ), which lost 4.26% or 0.61 points to trade at 13.70 in late trade. Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ) declined 3.17% or 0.62 points to end at 18.93 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA: CYRE3 ) shed 3.03% or 0.42 points to 13.43.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 195 to 169 and 32 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.26% to 28.05.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 9.15 to $1292.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.25% or 0.65 to hit $51.39 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.14% or 2.66 to trade at $126.83 .

USD/BRL was down 0.01% to 3.1668, while EUR/BRL fell 0.09% to 3.7512.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 93.00.
