Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.49%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumption , Electric Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.49%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (SA: MGLU3 ), which rose 4.97% or 6.96 points to trade at 146.99 at the close. Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA: EGIE3 ) added 4.51% or 1.65 points to end at 38.26 and Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ) was up 3.57% or 0.50 points to 14.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ), which lost 4.04% or 1.05 points to trade at 24.95 in late trade. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA: MRFG3 ) declined 4.02% or 0.30 points to end at 7.17 and JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) shed 3.92% or 0.35 points to 8.58.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 231 to 177 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.92% to 35.11.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1219.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.24 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.18% or 0.19 to trade at $107.53 .

USD/BRL was up 0.76% to 3.8013, while EUR/BRL rose 0.04% to 4.3826.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 95.46.
